Since its founding in November 2005—over twenty years ago—the United Community Center of Westchester, Inc. (UCCW) has positively impacted the lives of over half a million (500,000) immigrants and other neighbors in need. Established by Jackeline Agudelo, a dedicated social worker with extensive field experience, UCCW emerged from a recognized need for humanitarian aid in the area. Jackeline, along with a committed group of volunteers, believed that collective action is the most effective way to empower individuals and ensure fair treatment and access to essential services and resources. We continue to address community challenges through programs tailored to meet evolving needs and drive constructive change.
Our Community Center is a vocal and invaluable resource for individuals, at-risk populations, other advocates and service providers, policymakers, and the public at large. We have earned a reputation as a credible source of information on homelessness, immigrants, low-income families, their causes, and potential solutions.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to serve people in need through a culture of solidarity, providing direct assistance focused on their immediate needs. We offer supportive services, programs, and advocacy to empower individuals, improve their quality of life, restore hope and dignity, and facilitate healthier integration. We empower them to transition out of public assistance.
The center continually identifies and assesses the evolving needs and resources of the community, modifying its programs accordingly to best meet the needs of its clients. We assist anyone in obtaining the services and resources they require or are entitled to. Our goal is to help our neighbors achieve self-sufficiency.
